Wednesday, October 25, 2006A day in Dover and Dover Castle![]() Spent a pleasant couple of hours in Dover on Saturday - the first time I'd ever stopped off at the town rather than just going through it en route to France. ![]() The town's a mix of attractive Georgian architecture and 'orrible identikit High Street shops, but the castle is really stunning. ![]() There's over 2,000 years of history on the site, and the Keep is truly massive! ![]() My favourite was the Roman Pharos (lighthouse). Nearly two thousand years old, it's the tallest surviving Roman building north of the Italian Alps that's still standing. Dover Castle Dover Town |
