Pre Match Tension builds...
Well, I've got my tickets for the game on Sunday and I'm already feeling nervous - 72,000 packed into the mighty Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and a place in the First Division at stake. Come on Cardiff!!! Last night, I went to the launch of a new Sagem mobile phone and managed to blag one! It's very, err, colourful and has the most ludicrous ring tones imaginable, along with a snazzy little camera. I'm not entirely convinced yet... I've been shopping again at the excellent FOPP record store in Covent Garden. Purchases include Lucinda Williams (World Without Tears), Bruce Springsteen (Born to Run) - my old vinyl record had all but worn out - and Athlete (Vehicles and Animals). I've also recently bought 'Toyland' by Liberty Horses - a band fronted my old mate Neil MacColl (brother of Kirsty) who used to be in the Bible. It's a bit of a grower! Thursday, May 15, 2003
Got...to...get...tickets.. must... get..... tickets
I'm almost wearing out the buttons on my phone trying to get through to the Cardiff City booking office. Naturally, the one time I get through, the thing cuts off half way through.... grrr.... Wednesday, May 14, 2003
Bloooobirds!
Just got back from a long coach trip to Bristol and back to watch the mighty Cardiff City secure their place in the Division Two play off final (in Cardiff!) The game was as tight as a badger's backside, but we managed to keep a clean sheet, thanks in no small part to a superb defensive performance and a fantastic reflex save from our goalie. I'll stick some photos up tomorrow, but right now, a smug sleep awaits! Saturday, May 03, 2003
Oh, me poor 'ead!
Last night's 'quiet' drink turned out to be a bit of a quaff-a-thon, ending up at the excellent Juice Bar on Coldharbour Lane - a small, friendly, licensed bookstore open till 2am. Recommended - but if you're on a diet, don't even look at their waistline-expanding cheesecakes! Talking of things Brixton, I've been out and about for the past week producing a Brixton: Then and Now series, retaking photographs of scenes recorded 50-100 years ago. I was really saddened to learn of the fate of the Empress Theatre, a massive old theatre that was - criminally - demolished in the 1980s. Thursday was Mayday and yours truly was out in the thick of it, avoiding heavy handed police and enthusiastic jugglers. And today is Jayday, a free pro-cannabis festival in Brockwell Park, near Brixton. I've been commissioned to take some photos for High Times magazine, so I'll be snapping away all afternoon. So far the weather looks good - let's hope it doesn't get as bad as it was in 2001 - the wettest festival ever! |
