Happy Halloween!
I'm just about ready to hit the town wearing a really horrible weird wooden mask that I've been too scared to throw out (in case it comes back to attack me!). I've no idea where it comes from - I found it in the flat - but it sure looks 'orrible!
WoooOoooOOooOOoh!!!

Goodbye Concorde!
The most beautiful passenger planes ever built make their final flights today, with three Concordes landing within minutes of each other at 1600 pm at Heathrow. There's a host of reasons why I should hate the plane (massive pollution, it's for toffs etc), but I'm won over every time by its grace, its power, its stunning beauty and its incredible technological achievement. I hear it roaring over my house every day and it'll be much missed.
Make an origami Concorde here!

Tate Modern/Brighton rocks!
Top weekend! On Saturday, I checked out the amazing 'Weather Project' at the Tate Modern - an amazing installation that creates an indoor outdoors, if you get my drift! It really is an amazing sight, with a huge yellow sun dominating the end of the massive Turbine Hall and clouds of dry ice making it look like a scene from another world. Unmissable stuff!
Later on I sped down to Brighton to check out the seaside delights of Brighton and see the Actionettes at the excellent Sussex Arts Club.
Next day, we took a stroll around the sea front and visited the moribund wreckage of the West Pier - it's so sad to see this once fine pier rusting into the sea...

Aaargh! Disaster!
Both the urban75.org and .net parts of the site have gone completely down, so great chunks of the site won't be working....
Anyone desperately missing the bulletin boards is advised to head off to the slightly crap (but working) temporary replacement here

Sniff-tastic
I've just been laid low by my first cold of the year. The weird thing was that it came on in minutes: I was feeling just dandy sorting out the flat and then - aaatishoo! - instant sore throat, headache, blocked nose and aching limbs!
I've done my best to battle it though, wolfing down copious amounts of Vit C and keeping my pecker up. Tonight, I went out armed with several toilet rolls' worth of paper (to attend my unpleasantly running nose) and checked out the excellent Top Cats at the Brixton Fridge - fabulous ska as ever!

Wi Fi'd!
Those of you who followed this blog over the years will know about my long running battle with my home network. For some brief, glorious moments, everything works a treat. But then if there's the slightest change to the system - or maybe it's the colour of my socks - the whole thing collapses in a heap.
Well, I'm happy to report that my all new wireless network seems to be finally working jus' dandy and I love it! (excuse me while I touch any wood I can find in the room).
As soon as the network sprung into life, I sat outside on my balcony and watched a live video stream from Times Square, NYC on my laptop. Neat!
(There's still the tricky task of sorting out a server on the network, but I'll leave that for now!)
