Venus in Transit

Venus in Transit

Venus is currently shuffling across the face of the sun and it looks well k3wl!

Venus passes in front of the Sun

The last time it was possible to see the entire passage across the Sun was back in 1283 and the next time it will happen is 2247 -so, it’s rarer than a Cardiff City FA Cup triumph!

Capt James Cook was so thrilled by the prospect of witnessing the Transit of Venus that he sailed to Tahiti to check it out.

I managed to dig out my old eclipse sunglasses, carefully stuck them on the front of my Minolta A2 camera and after some fiddling with the exposure and manual controls I got a half decent snap.

Seeing this tiny dot passing the enormous burning sphere of the sun kinda makes you feel a bit ‘umble, doesn’t it?
