I loved visiting Berlin last year, and have already posted up a series of photos from my travels around the city. Here’s my final set of shots from this fantastic city…
A dog gives me a suspicious look at Neukolln metro station.
Checkpoint Charlie in full tourist attracting mode.
A tourist-luring table full Cold War themed trinkets.
Berlin TV tower. Designed to reflect the strength and efficiency of the socialist party system in the late 60s, the tower was brought into use in October 1969.
More than a million people visit the TV tower per year. [—]
Close to the tower there’s a series of mini trampolines embedded in the pavement.
Most passers by find them irresistible.
Berlin red brick architecture against darkening sky.
Known as stolperstein (stumbling block), these monuments created by Gunter Demnig can be seen on pavements all around Berlin, and each one commemorates a victim of the Holocaust.
They commemorate individuals – both those who died and survivors – of Nazi prisons, euthanasia facilities, sterilization clinics, concentration camps, and extermination camps, as well as those who responded to persecution by emigrating or committing suicide.
Although most stolpersteine commemorate Jewish victims of the Holocaust, others have been placed for Sinti and Romani people, homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, black people, Christians (both Protestants and Catholics) opposed to the Nazis, members of the Communist Party and the Resistance, military deserters, and the physically and mentally disabled. Some adventurous architecture.
Jaunty subway seat cover.
Animated U-Bahn scene.
Curious piece of machinery.

Posing for a picture next to a remnant of the Wall.
More tourist tack.
