Brixton street snaps, late April

It’s another lovely sunny day in Brixton, so here’s a few snaps from my walk around town.

Above: Mime lesson – or is that ‘lessen’? – advertised  in Brixton Market.

Boarded up window of Brady’s – the much loved and much missed Brixton boozer.

20% off in Morley’s – Brixton’s last surviving department store, which dates back over a hundred years.

The site of Brixton’s most famous squat, Cooltan, criminally remains an empty wasteland, although some recent works has resulted in a curious ‘mini-road’ being constructed.

As far as I could see, a large pipeline was installed, but I’m not really sure why it’s been Tarmac’d over in a strip. Anyone know?

Behind the vacant plot of land, essential repairs have been taking place to the railway viaduct which – according to one worker I was taking to – were rather urgently needed as the structure was showing signs of serious damage.
