On Saturday, I popped along to see the first record fair to be held at the The Canterbury Arms boozer in Brixton.

The event was put on by my chum, Ian Watson. He’s the fella behind the long-running indie club ‘How Does It Feel To Be Loved,’ and he described the record fair as being, “a bit like the Independent Label Market meets your favourite second hand record shop.”

There was a good crowd there throughout the day, with the event running from 12pm to 5pm.

The pub was open so record shoppers were able to enjoy a pint or two and listen to a selection of DJs playing tunes throughout the day.

Several labels had set up stalls, including Cherry Red Records (above), Fortuna POP!, Where It’s At Is Where You Are, Odd Box, Fika, How Does It Feel To Be Loved?, The Great Pop Supplement and Dirty Water Records.

Here’s the ‘bloke with the portable record deck’ who runs the rather fabulous One O’Clock Record Club, which, as its name suggests, plays one record at 1PM every day from Monday to Friday.

  1. Every stall made the photo gallery except ours. I guess we were too ugly. What a disappointment especially as our stall was (wo)manned by a young lady proving that even women can appreciate independent music.

  2. Don’t take it personally! There was a crowd by your stall when I popped in so didn’t want to barge in and shove my camera in your faces.

I missed a couple of other stalls too.
