London in miniature: the fabulous scale model at the Building Centre

A return trip to the fabulous scale model of London at the Building Centre

The Scale Model of central London at the Building Centre, Store Street, London, WC1E 7BT

I first visited the Building Centre back in 2011 and was suitably impressed by the amazing Pipers 1:1500 scale model of London which dominates the ground floor.

Since I last visited, there’s been quite a few new additions to the map (in white), as London’s skyscrapers continue to sprout up all over the capital.

The Shard next to the London Bridge redevelopment,

The Strata tower, with its infamous non-working turbines.

The new Blackfriars station, located on what claims to be the world’s largest solar powered bridge,.

The Walkie Talkie tower whch hit the headlines because of its car-melting rays

Olympic stadium.

Thames Barrier.

Emirates Air Line cable car from North Greenwich to the Royal Docks.
