Spotted in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I snapped a photo of this guy because he really reminded me of the character I’d drawn for my Cardiff City football comic, Bluebird Jones.

The character – called 70s Man – had woken up after being in a coma since the 1970s, and had returned to Ninian Park in a state of constant bafflement with the changes in football.

Given what’s been happening at Cardiff recently, I think it could be time for a comeback.

  1. This is nothing. The most 70’s man spotted out of time was on the German Railways in 1988 when I was travelling to see a Frank Zappa gig. He wore square glasses, a dark brown trenchcoat a gringo moustache greasy hair just touching his collar, polyester trousers shiny in the worn regions and..and platform soled boots the uppers just covered by the polyester flares. He was carrying a worn attache case.
