After last night’s eviction party, the police came in mob handed to throw out the remaining residents of the long standing Brixton squat at Clifton Mansions.
A large police presence was in attendance, with over ten police vans backed by specialist units and the fire brigade, while a helicopter noisily buzzed overhead from 7.30am.
Coldharbour Lane was blocked off and police entered the mansion block around 9:15am, and met with little resistance.
It’s a real shame to see another long term community being turfed out of central Brixton, and I don’t think the area is going to be any better for the inevitable “luxury apartments” that will soon take over this space. It’s a sad day.
