Rain at last in Brixton (and hailstones!)

With the UK heading for the hottest, driest Spring since records began, we’ve been praying for a bit of rain down Brixton way for the sake of our ailing plants.

Well, the Big Man Upstairs has finally delivered the goods, as Brixton resonated to a ten minute-long thunderstorm, with hailstones and torrential rain thrown into the mix.

Today’s brief storm is unlikely to stop this Spring remaining the hottest ever, with Met Office figures showing that the average UK temperature since the start of March is just over 48.6F (9.2C) –  making it the warmest since records began back in Edwardian times (1910, to be precise).

The previous record spring was 2007, which registered an average temperature of  48.3F (9.05C).
