Save the Vulcan Hotel pub in Cardiff – demo on 11th May 2012

Save the Cardiff Vulcan pub

In my home town of Cardiff, a campaign has kicked off to save one of the capital city’s oldest pubs from closure and demolition.

Dating from 1853, and voted Cardiff Pub of the Year in 1997, the Vulcan Hotel now stands adrift in an area surrounded by modern redevelopments.

Its owners, Marcol Asset Management Limited, claim that the pub is no longer “commercially viable,” while campaigners accuse its brewery tenants Messrs Brains & Co of just abandoning this fine old Welsh boozer to its  fate.

The historic pub is now due to close on May 31st 2012.

  1. They want to remove the soul of Cardiff and replace it with another shopping mal. Perhaps those that approved the CPO should be targeted to remove them from their positions of power and stop their wanton vandalism in the name of progress.
