I’ve actually lost my voice from shouting at the mighty Bluebirds for so long tonight, such was the tension in this game.
The away leg at Selhurst Park was nerve-racking enough but watching this vital match was even worse – even though I was only bellowing at the TV screen this time.

Once the longest-serving advert in any British football ground, the painted words of “Captain Morgan Rum – The Right Rum For Today’s Taste” adorned the roof of Cardiff City’s Ninian Park football ground for more than 40 years.

This game had everything – except a win for Cardiff.
We had Millwall fans fighting amongst themselves, dodgy refereeing, sending offs, a penalty revoked, fightbacks, a fantastic atmosphere and, sadly, a Cardiff fan falling from the top tier of the stadium to the empty seats below after we scored.

A midweek trip to Selhurst Park promised reasonably great things for the star studded players of the mighty Cardiff City, but, sadly, it turned out to be one of those nights.

Ah, it seems sooo long ago now, but I’m slowly adding strips from my old Bluebird Jones footie comic (described as “painfully right on” by nu-football mag 4-4-2!).
Here’s a strip of the main character, Bluebird Jones, from 1993.
Any similarity to real events taking place in my life at the time is (cough) entirely accidental!

Despite the raging hangover, I managed to drag my ale-soaked arse half way up Caerphilly Mountain and across Graig Llanishen for a bracing walk in the freezing mist.

I’m really glad that I made the effort too as it was a lovely walk, trudging across deserted fields and dark forests.

Garth Mountain/ Mynydd Y Garth walk

On the 27th, we climbed the equally mist-drenched Garth Mountain, with the rain managing to hold off until the last minute.

The mountain has several ancient (4,000 years old!) burial mounds on the top and commands fantastic views all around (when it’s not covered in mist, of course).

Just back from a lovely few days climbing mountains, scaling hills and scrambling through thorny bushes in and around Cardiff. south Wales.

Sadly, the mighty Cardiff City once again failed to make my Christmas complete, drawing to Plymouth at home, 2-2.

Great to be back standing on the old terraces though, and the crowd wasn’t bad at 17,299, if a tad silenced by the freezing temperatures.
Loads more Cardiff photos coming soon!

Executive box woe
I’m afraid today hasn’t gone to plan. What should have been a whoopy-doopsy, all expenses paid trip to Reading for a Toshiba press launch and – oh yes! – the prospect of watching the mighty Cardiff City continue their winning form went horribly wrong.
Sure the exec book at Reading was suitably whizzy, and there was free beer, but things started to go awry when the food was wheeled out: chicken, chicken or, err, more chicken.
Far from enjoying a pre-match feast, yours truly was left nibbling on a dull diet of dried pitta bread and lettuce.
And the the football! The first half was a joy to behold, with Cardiff commanding the game and looking set to roll onto another triumph. After 12 minutes we were 1-0 up and looking good for more.
And then something odd happened at half time. We became Reading and they became us! Suddenly, Reading were al over us like a bad suit and we slumped to a 2-1 defeat.
And then I came home to find that the entire urban75.org has site has mysteriously gone offline (that’ll teach me to boast about the stats, eh?)
Oh well… ho hum…

Collossal Cardiff City Crush Gillingham!
The mighty Cardiff City slammed five goals past hapless Gillingham on Saturday – with Earnshaw bagging four! Tuesday night, I’m off to Reading football stadium courtesy of Toshiba, who have invited me to the launch of their sports WiFi service. By a wonderful twist of fate, it just so happens that Cardiff City are playing Reading that night, so with luck, I’ll be posting up live match updates on the bulletin boards!
Come on Cardiff!!!
