The Brixton Pound celebrates its first birthday

The first local currency in an urban area in the UK, the Brixton Pound is designed to support Brixton businesses and encourage local trade and production.

It works as a complementary currency, working alongside (and not replacing) pounds sterling, for use by independent local shops and traders.
