The Brixton Pound celebrates its first birthday

Brixton Pound 1st Birthday Party at the Brixton Village, Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, Lambeth, London UK 15th September 2010

The first local currency in an urban area in the UK, the Brixton Pound is designed to support Brixton businesses and encourage local trade and production.

It works as a complementary currency, working alongside (and not replacing) pounds sterling, for use by independent local shops and traders.
