Last night I went along to a benefit gig  at the Brixton Windmill to raise funds for Sedgehill School of Lewisham’s school trip.

Once I’d stopped gazing in awe at the Windmill’s shiny new digital mixing desk (want!), I was treated to three great bands, with all the dosh going to a good cause.

First up were Brixton’s very own Obscuritones, a mighty fine rock and roll/rockabilly outfit who describe themselves as, “London Greaserbilly for Rock-a-Hulagans.”

Slamming down a full-on dose of psychedelic blues mixed in with straight-down-the-line 60s rock were Brain Washington.

Headlining the show were the fantastic Nuns, an all-lady six piece playing the songs of cult 60s garage band, The Monks. I loved ’em.

Oh, and great work Delia for raising the cash!
