TK Maxx opening up in Brixton on 10th May 2012

Brixton should start bracing itself for a stampede of bargain hunters on 10th May, when the new discount retailer  TK Maxx opens up.

The chain store is owned by T.J. Maxx, a major clothes retailer in the United States with over 900 stores.

Known as T.K. Maxx in Europe, the first store opened in Bristol in 1994, with expansion swiftly following across the UK, Ireland, Germany and Poland [read more].

The Brixton TK Maxx is located in the old Bon Marche buildings on Brixton Road, which dates back to 1877.

The new store occupies the premises of a pub which had been known as the Flourmill and Firkin,  Ivan’s retreat (May 2008-September 2009), The Goose (c.2003-Apr 2008) before  its final incarnation as The Rest Is Noise.
