Opening  in January 1983, the first premises for Brixton Cycles was on Coldharbour Lane, conveniently opposite the Prince Albert pub.

The business has been run as a co-op since the offset, which means that everyone who works there gets the same pay, same say, equal rights and equal responsibilities. Nice one!

In May 2001,  Brixton Cycles moved out of central Brixton and re-located to new premises right next to Stockwell Skatepark, where they’re still doing great business.

Incidentally, their old Coldharbour Lane premises remained empty for years and were briefly squatted as Brixton Arts Co-Op in 2005.
