Wonderful colour film footage matches up London views from 1927 - 2013

Now, here’s a man after my own heart! Film maker Simon Smith has carefully matched up the wonderful 1920s colour footage of London’s streets captured by cinematographer Claude Friese-Greene with his own contemporary scenes.

As he explains on his website:

Since February I have attempted to capture every one of his shots, standing in his footsteps, and using modern equivalents of his camera and lenses. This has been a personal study, that has revealed how little London has changed.

The resulting video highlights how much (and how little) London has changed over the years. It is fantastic stuff.

You can view the video above, although I strongly recommend watching the full HD version at the Vimeo site and selecting the full screen option.
