Work finally starts on the Kings Cross Lighthouse bulding

Work finally starts on the Kings Cross Lighthouse

Sporting a distinctive lighthouse-like tower on its roof, this building has been a local landmark around Kings Cross for over a hundred years.

Sadly, in recent times, the structure had been left to its own fate – see Kings Cross Lighthouse continues to rot away – and there were fears that ambitious redevelopment plans may fall victim to the current financial crisis.

Walking past the building on the weekend I was chuffed to see scaffolding now surrounding the crumbling tower, and although I’m not sure I’m  going to particularly like what the place turns into, it’s good to see the structure finally being preserved.
