Tram by junction of Brixton Road and Stockwell Road, London March, 1952

March, 1952 A number 33 tram headed for Kingsway Subway and Essex Road approaches the junction of Brixton Road and Stockwell Road.

By this the early fifties, time was running out for the trams, with the tracks being ripped up a few weeks after this photo was taken.

28th Oct 2007 Fifty-five years on and much has changed in Brixton Road.

What must have been a second Brixton branch of Woolworths now hosts the 'Travel Zone' baggage store, while Grey's Television and Radio store has long vanished.
