Brighton railway station
After a lenghty refurbishment, the old LB&SCR (London to Brighton South Coast Railway) station now looks resplendent with its beautiful iron and glass roof curving into the distance.

It took 3,500 men and 570 horses to build the railway between July 1838 and September 1841 at a whopping cost of £2,634,059 (that's £57,262 per mile).
