Princes Street and Calton Hill

Looking east down Princes Street, you can see the distinctive Acropolis-like memorial to those who died in the Napoleonic Wars.

It was designed to be a replica of the Parthenon in Athens, but funds run out soon after building started in 1822 and has remained unfinished ever since.
