The Barbican
Selected by Forbes.com as one of the 'World's ugliest buildings', this sprawling, stern and unwelcoming place was built on the site of the ancient fortifications of the City of London, in an area almost completely flattened during the World War II Blitz.

Opened by Queen Elizabeth in 1982, the Barbican can claim to be the largest multi-arts and conference venue in Europe - but that doesn't stop it being one butt-ugly construction!
