Speaker's corner, Hyde Park
Famous as a place for public debate and discussion, the area around Speaker's Corner has long been associated with public meetings.
Karl Marx, Fredrick Engels and Lenin have all spoken there. Cromwell's corpse was hung up in a cage for public display nearby as a warning to others who might wish to abolish the Monarchy.
Nowadays, people are more likely to go along to hear the rantings of mad, the bad and the dangerous to know, and there's always a good crowd of
listeners and hecklers to keep things lively.
