Opera House

Named the 'New Theatre' upon opening in 1912, this celebrated theatre has featured great actors such as Sir John Geilgud, Peter Ustinov, Vivienne Leigh and Sir Alec Guinness.

Declining audiences resulted in the theatre's closure in 1979, but local campaigning and intervention from the Arts Council helped turn it into a profitable and popular attraction.
