Old tin mine near Carn Galver
In the 19th century, the Cornish landscape was littered with over 600 of these distinctive stone buildings, housing steam engines for pumping out water from the shafts.
Most mines were closed by the mid-20th century, with the collapse of the world tin cartel in 1986 finishing off the industry for good.
