Looking over Portreath

Taken half way up the mean hill out of Portreath, you can see the housing development on what used to be its busy quays.

From 1760, the the 'Welsh Fleet' sailed regularly out of the harbour loaded with rich copper ore destined for the smelting furnaces of Swansea, with the ships returning with Welsh coal for the mine beam engines.
