Running from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District right up to 30th Street, the High Line park follows the route of a disused elevated freight railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan.
The southernmost section opened as a city park on June 8, 2009, running from Gansevoort Street in the south to 20th Street, with a second section up to 30th Street following in June 2011.
There are plans to extend the walk north to a third and final section, which will run from from 30th to 34th Streets around the Rail Yards – read more here.

The High Line runs under the Standard Hotel, an 18-story luxury boutique hotel located at 848 Washington Street between West 13th and Little West 12th Streets. The Le Corbusier-styled building was completed in 2009 and contains 337 rooms.
