Last week, Porthcawl’s much-loved Coney Beach Amusement Park closed its doors for good after serving day-trippers and holidaymakers for 107 years.
Opening in 1918, it’s said that the park was built to entertain American troops returning from the war, taking its name from New York’s Coney Island attraction.
As a child, I visited the place many times.
These photos were taken on a cold but sunny Boxing Day in 2008, with the park already looking very tatty around the edges.
