Just eleven months after the urban75 forums\u00a0registered\u00a0its 11,000,000th post, the Brixton-based, community-funded bulletin board\u00a0has now notched up its 12 millionth user post.<\/p>\n

Boasting over 44,000 registered users, the site offers over 30 themed forums, covering a wide\u00a0range\u00a0of topics from politics, protest, football, music, film, local issues, transport to knitting and cooking.<\/p>\n

The original forums date back to 1996,\u00a0although\u00a0they were\u00a0rather\u00a0basic affairs running on steam-powered Perl\/CGI-powered scripts that formed an\u00a0irresistible\u00a0magnet for unhinged posters to try and mess up.<\/p>\n

Over the years we switched\u00a0bulletin\u00a0board software several times, \u00a0moving to the excellent XenForo software<\/a>\u00a0in August 2011.\u00a0\u00a0The current post total is actually\u00a0considerably\u00a0lower than the actual figure, as in the past we had to delete hundreds of thousands of posts to conserve precious server\u00a0space.<\/p>\n

Over the past year on the boards, there’s been 30 million page views, with the most popular forums being\u00a0UK politics, current affairs and news<\/a>, the\u00a0general forum<\/a>,\u00a0health, relationships, sexuality<\/a>\u00a0(open to established registered users only),\u00a0the Brixton forum<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0world politics, current affairs and news<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0bulletin boards are -rather unusually – totally funded by users who donate\u00a0anonymously\u00a0(and thus get no added privileges). Here’s to the next\u00a0million\u00a0posts!<\/p>\n
