in the 1990s before reverting back to its\u00a0original\u00a0name.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"canning-town-closed-pubs-06\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/canning-town-closed-pubs-06.jpg\" width=\"620\" height=\"419\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.derelictlondon.com\/east-london.html\" target=\"_blank\">Derelict\u00a0London<\/a> website, things got a little rough towards the end, with the license\u00a0suspended in 2011\u00a0due to crime and disorder issues.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also a tale of the landlord being attacked after he refused to serve a customer his 31st drink. \u00a0The attacker was later jailed for 16 months.<\/p>\n<p>After closure in 2012, the premises are now used as a charity shop although the pub signage remains.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been proposed to demolish the building and replace it with a retail unit and flats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hadn&#8217;t been back to Canning Town for a long, long time, but a walk along the Barking Road on Saturday afternoon proved to be rather a depressing experience &#8211;
