With my\u00a0spirits flagging\u00a0after a miserable afternoon battling through the crowds of Oxford Street, I found myself in urgent need of a decent cup of coffee – and Lantana Cafe in Fitrovia turned out to be the perfect place to refuel.<\/p>\n

Offering an excellent\u00a0selection\u00a0of cakes and snacks, the cafe has a cosy\u00a0atmosphere, although space is limited inside.<\/p>\n

There’s usually seats\u00a0available\u00a0outside though, but as the place can get very busy, you may have to queue to get served at busy times – but the coffee is\u00a0definitely\u00a0worth the wait.<\/p>\n

A bit of background <\/strong><\/p>\n

Opening in 2008, this\u00a0Australian-run coffee outlet has bagged a\u00a0bouquet\u00a0of best cafe awards, and after devouring a delicious cake and enjoying a particularly splendid coffee, it was easy to see why.<\/p>\n

Named after a ‘noxious Australian\u00a0weed<\/a>‘ (err, OK), the success of Lantana has led to the launch of a sister outlet called Salvation Jane<\/a> (yes, another rampant Australian weed) in painfully trendy Shoreditch, east London.<\/p>\n

I’ve yet to visit the east London cafe, but I’m told it’s quite different to Lantana, being considerably larger in size and offering a more\u00a0comprehensive\u00a0menu, \u00a0plus beer, wine and\u00a0cocktails\u00a0in the evening.<\/p>\n
