You know when things are getting bad for Brixton, and that’s when The Times includes the place in a list of the ‘UK’s coolest\u00a0neighbourhoods.’<\/p>\n

As if the evil that is Foxton’<\/a>s\u00a0infesting\u00a0the main drag wasn’t enough, further harm will no doubt be inflicted on poor old battered Brixton with the\u00a0ghastly\u00a0Toryboy rag stamping their seal of ‘cool’\u00a0approval\u00a0on the place.<\/p>\n

Listing Brixton at #25 in their shitty list, the vile article predictably gushes on about the Villaaage being a “foodie destination,” \u00a0and\u00a0declares 3-4 bedroom homes priced at \u00a3685k\u00a0to be “relatively affordable.”<\/p>\n

Affordable if you’re loaded, that is.<\/p>\n

The article adds, “There\u2019s a fine line between gentrification and standardisation.\u201d<\/p>\n

I’ve no idea what that means but I sincerely, deeply wish that it meant that there would be more social\u00a0housing, less fucking Foxtons<\/a>, less\u00a0Barratt\u00a0Homes with their obligation-wriggling\u00a0“affordable\u00a0housing,”<\/a>\u00a0more protection for traditional traders in the market and Brixton remained the kind of place that readers of Murdoch-owned\u00a0aspirational lifestyle columns would stay the fuck away from.<\/p>\n
