It looks like not all of Brixton is delighted to have a shiny new Foxtons\u00a0office opening up on the site of the old Speedy Noodles<\/a> restaurant,\u00a0with\u00a0the estate agent’s windows being scrawled with the words ‘Yuppies Out’ \u00a0and ‘Yuck’ over the last few days.<\/p>\n

\"Brixton<\/p>\n

As\u00a0reported\u00a0in an\u00a0earlier\u00a0post<\/a>,\u00a0Foxtons\u00a0have an appalling\u00a0reputation.\u00a0After they were forced to reword their contracts after a\u00a0court order from the Office of Fair Trading<\/a>, here\u2019s what\u00a0The Guardian<\/a>\u00a0had to say about the company\u2019s business ethics:<\/p>\n

Staff were\u00a0paid minimal basic salaries plus commission so that, according to one former employee, they were \u201cdriven to do almost anything to clinch a deal\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dodgy practices included pulling down other agencies\u2019 For Sale boards and putting up their own for properties they weren\u2019t even selling.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Earlier this week, the snooty and\u00a0sneering\u00a0Estate Agent Today<\/a> site had this to say about the new Foxtons office\u00a0opening\u00a0in Brixton:<\/p>\n

As talk surfaces of a stock market float for Foxtons, you may have wondered what it would be like to be driven around in one of those foxy little Foxtons cars.<\/p>\n

Every estate agent\u2019s dream \u2013 or every estate agent\u2019s idea of a nightmare?<\/p>\n

Well, a journalist recently went in one and reckoned she\u2019d have had a better reception if she\u2019d been clocked in a Nazi tank. People glared and curled their lips, apparently.<\/p>\n

Mind you, it was Brixton.<\/p>\n

Not that we\u2019re saying there\u2019s anything wrong with Brixton. But (a) it\u2019s not Belgravia and (b) it\u2019s where Foxtons have opened up in what was formerly probably Brixton\u2019s idea of a health food shop \u2013 a popular quick noodle joint.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
