It was a pub with a rich Afro-Caribbean heritage<\/a> from the 1950s, and before that strong connections\u00a0to the Edwardian music hall<\/a>, but The Angel on\u00a0\u00a0Coldharbour Lane, Brixton has now been lost to the inevitable upmarket housing development.<\/p>\n

Bought up by the grasping property\u00a0empire\u00a0that is Lexadon<\/a>, the former pub in a “vibrant location” will be converted into “three mews houses, five high-specification apartments and one commercial space.”<\/p>\n

Prices will, no doubt, be far out of reach for most locals.<\/p>\n

The old bar entrance. The saloon bar entrance was to the right on Coldharbour Lane.<\/p>\n

The pub was once\u00a0owned by the\u00a0late Victorian\/early Edwardian music hall performers, The Royal Zanettos.<\/p>\n
