During my recent visit to Liverpool, I saw this moving tribute at the Museum of Liverpool to the 96 who lost their lives in the Hillsborough Disaster<\/a> of 1989.<\/p>\n

The work of\u00a0graffiti artist Gecko, the piece is a personal tribute to his friend Carl Brown who died at Hillsborough, aged just 18.<\/p>\n

Each canvas\u00a0represents\u00a0an individual tribute to a lost life and to the families who tirelessly fought for justice.<\/p>\n

The spray and stencil work is\u00a0dominated\u00a0by representations of the \u00a0iconic Liverpool Liver Bird, with the\u00a0\u00a0number on each canvas marking the age of the victims, and the pink canvases representing the young women who died.<\/p>\n

It’s a quietly powerful and moving statement.<\/p>\n
