Some sausage dog facts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sausage dogs – or ‘dachshunds’ are they’re officially categorised – get their name from their \u00a0elongated bodies, but despite their cute appearance, a 2008 study<\/a> found them to be\u00a0\u00a0more aggressive than pit bulls, rottweilers and Rhodesian ridgebacks.<\/p>\n

Originally bred\u00a0to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals, Dachshunds\u00a0now come in three sizes: standard, miniature [read more here<\/a>].<\/p>\n

No dogs for Brixton<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was a recent fundraising campaign<\/a> to bring a hipster-luring, Instagram-generating\u00a0Sausage Dog Cafe<\/a> to Brixton, which – given the documented aggressiveness of the animals – didn’t seem like the greatest idea I’ve ever heard.<\/p>\n

It looks like it won’t be happening any time soon anyway, as co-founder Emilie Harley<\/a>‘s hopes of reaching the required \u00a355,000 funding target were cruelly dashed (dachshunded?), with less than \u00a31,500 being raised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
