Another grand old pub is under threat, with the Grade II listed\u00a0George Tavern in\u00a0Commercial Road, Stepney under threat from developers who have purchased the adjoining site.<\/p>\n

The developers have submitted a number of different plans to build luxury apartments next to the pub – and if those plans go ahead, the venue will most likely be forced to stop live music events – just like what is happening to the Night & Day cafe in Manchester<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hosting regular new music nights, classical music concerts, pop-up art exhibitions, vintage jumble sales, film, poetry and spoken word gigs, the George Tavern is an important creative hub and venue for the local community.<\/p>\n

With the planning appeal date set for 5th March 2014, it’s important to act quick.<\/p>\n

A campaign website has been set up detailing the various actions people can take to try and save the pub’s future (reproduced below) but one thing I would urge you to do right now<\/em> is to\u00a0sign the online now!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Write to the Planning Inspectorate directly\u2026
