And it was ace!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-bus-calvacade-june-2014-03.jpg\" alt=\"Bus Cavalcade in Regent Street, London with vintage buses, Sunday 22nd June 2014 \" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Billed as the\u00a0Bus Cavalcade in Regent Street, the vent was part of London&#8217;s &#8216;Year Of The Bus&#8217; celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>At the northern end, you could see Transport for London&#8217;s newest bus, Boris&#8217;s baby, the 2012 Routemaster, along with hi-tech examples\u00a0of electric,\u00a0hydrogen and hybrid powered buses.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-bus-calvacade-june-2014-04.jpg\" alt=\"Bus Cavalcade in Regent Street, London with vintage buses, Sunday 22nd June 2014 \" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The weather was glorious and some people took full advantage of the traffic free zone!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-bus-calvacade-june-2014-05.jpg\" alt=\"Bus Cavalcade in Regent Street, London with vintage buses, Sunday 22nd June 2014 \" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Benches were placed on the normally busy Regent Street thoroughfare.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-bus-calvacade-june-2014-06.jpg\" alt=\"Bus Cavalcade in Regent Street, London with vintage buses, Sunday 22nd June 2014 \" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Heading south was like walking into the past. complete with advert for BOAC (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/British_Overseas_Airways_Corporation\" target=\"_blank\">British Overseas Airways Corporation<\/a>), a British state-owned airline created in 1940 by the merger of Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #373737;\">Delivered to London Transport in January 1952, this bus was selected, along with two others,\u00a0to represent the British Travel and Holidays Association and London Transport, and was sent on a tour of the USA and Canada with the aim of promoting travel to Britain and the purchase of British products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #373737;\">it was a lengthy tour too, visiting New York, Cincinatti, St Louis, Kansas City, Dallas, Sante Fe, Hollywood, San Francisco and then returning via Salt Lake City, Denver, Omaha, Des Moines, Chicago and Detroit, with a 2000-mile Canadian detour taking in\u00a0Ottawa, Montreal, Perth, Toronto and London, Ontario<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-bus-calvacade-june-2014-20.jpg\" alt=\"Bus Cavalcade in Regent Street, London with vintage buses, Sunday 22nd June 2014 \" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Conductor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/london-bus-calvacade-june-2014-21.jpg\" alt=\"Bus Cavalcade in Regent Street, London with vintage buses, Sunday 22nd June 2014 \" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The curiously named\u00a0Guy Arab II bus \u2013 G351 &#8211;
