Looking like something off the set of a Star Trek movie is the new\u00a0pedestrian tunnel at King\u2019s Cross.<\/p>\n

The 90 metre long curved tunnel features an LED integrated lightwall and links St Pancras International and King\u2019s Cross St Pancras Underground stations to the new public spaces north of the stations.<\/p>\n

\"Walking<\/p>\n

The\u00a0integrated lightwall\u00a0was\u00a0designed by Speirs +Major, and features\u00a0LED lights installed behind a jointed glass wall.<\/p>\n

The technical blurb says that the LED lights are capable of emanating the full RGB spectrum and also a white light spectrum from 3.0K to 6.0K, so can create moving light shows with no shadow lines.<\/p>\n

For the opening months, the wall will have a dedicated light artwork on display. Called ‘Pipette’ and created by Miriam Sleeman and Tom Sloan, the pattern is suppose to, “evoke the colourful tapestry of King\u2019s Cross through a tranquil yet animated design.”<\/p>\n

I’m not so sure about myself, that but it still looked pretty enough\u00a0in a time-tunnel portal kind of way.\u00a0\u00a0I liked it.<\/p>\n

The entrance to the tunnel is in the north-east corner of the One Pancras Square building, and it is accessed via an escalator hall.<\/p>\n

The tunnel is open to pedestrians from Monday-Sunday, 7am until 8pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
