London, SE17 3AE\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I first visited this little cafe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/electric-elephant-cafe-gallery-betwixt-kennington-and-elephant-and-castle-london\/\" target=\"_blank\">back in December 2011<\/a>, and it&#8217;s great to see that business is thriving and that it&#8217;s lost none of its down-to-earth charm.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/electric-elephant-cafe-002.jpg\" alt=\"An afternoon at the Electric Elephant Cafe, 186a Crampton Street, Elephant and Castle. London, SE17 3AE\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Despite being located in a\u00a0rapidly gentrifying part of Elephant and Castle, the cafe still retains an unhurried, community\u00a0vibe, where you don&#8217;t feel pressured to vacate your seat as soon as you&#8217;ve finished your coffee.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/electric-elephant-cafe-003.jpg\" alt=\"An afternoon at the Electric Elephant Cafe, 186a Crampton Street, Elephant and Castle. London, SE17 3AE\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The side door of the cafe opens up into<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iliffeyard.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Iliffe Yard<\/a>, a short cobbled road \u00a0populated by arts workshops, fashion designers &amp; makers, filmmakers, graphic artists, jewellers, glassworkers, painters, potters, photographers, printmakers and sculptors.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, arty\u00a0types.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/electric-elephant-cafe-004.jpg\" alt=\"An afternoon at the Electric Elephant Cafe, 186a Crampton Street, Elephant and Castle. Some may say &#8216;shabby chic&#8217; but that suggests that it&#8217;s artificially been created for effect, and that&#8217;s not true: the place is simply<em> how it is<\/em>&#8211; and I like it!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/electric-elephant-cafe-005.jpg\" alt=\"An afternoon at the Electric Elephant Cafe, 186a Crampton Street, Elephant and Castle.
