href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/newport-county-sweep-aside-plymouth-argyle-on-a-dark-and-miserable-boxing-day-afternoon\/\" target=\"_blank\">Newport County FC see off Plymouth Argyll<\/a> in an entertaining Boxing Day match.<\/p>\n<p>It was great to see Newport\u00a0back in the league, playing in front of a healthy crowd\u00a0of over 5,000 people who had braved the relentless rain.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/spytty-the-dog-newport-02.jpg\" alt=\"Spytty the Dog, the strange emo paedobear\/Deputy Dawg hybrid club mascot of Newport County FC\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0I did find myself somewhat distracted\u00a0by\u00a0the strange\u00a0club mascot, known as\u00a0Spytty the Dog.<\/p>\n<p>Resembling a bizarre combination of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pedobear\" target=\"_blank\">paedobear<\/a> and Deputy Dawg, the mascot moodily shuffled around on the touchline,\u00a0occasionally sloping off into the club house like a surly teenager being sent to \u00a0bed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/spytty-the-dog-newport-03.jpg\" alt=\"Spytty the Dog, the strange emo paedobear\/Deputy Dawg hybrid club mascot of Newport County FC\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The person inside seemed to be fighting a losing battle with the outfit, lifting his elbows up at odd angles and constantly realigning the oversized head while trying to flick back the floppy ears.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/spytty-the-dog-newport-04.jpg\" alt=\"Spytty the Dog, the strange emo paedobear\/Deputy Dawg hybrid club mascot of Newport County FC\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the absolute minimum of enthusiasm, the mascot would offer a bag full of sweets to any small child that came into its vision, immediately drawing unwelcome comparisons with a half man\/half dog sex offender.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/spytty-the-dog-newport-06.jpg\" alt=\"Spytty the Dog, the strange emo paedobear\/Deputy Dawg hybrid club mascot of Newport County FC\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Elbows up, Spytty attempts to pull sweets out of the\u00a0plastic bag, inadvertently recreating the classic paedobear pose.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"15818\" paedobear\/Deputy Dawg hybrid club mascot of Newport County FC\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Head down and ears flapping disconsolately, Spytty leaves the stadium, perhaps\u00a0heading home to play My
