{"id":15901,"date":"2015-02-18T10:00:29","date_gmt":"2015-02-18T10:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/?p=15901"},"modified":"2015-02-17T14:13:00","modified_gmt":"2015-02-17T14:13:00","slug":"get-a-great-free-view-of-london-from-one-new-change-st-pauls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/get-a-great-free-view-of-london-from-one-new-change-st-pauls\/","title":{"rendered":"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/one-new-change-st-pauls-london-01.jpg\" alt=\"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s not many things you can get for free in central London, so it&#8217;s worth celebrating this magnificent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/lesser-known-london-viewpoints-the-dramatic-view-from-one-new-change-st-pauls\/\" target=\"_blank\">free viewing platform<\/a> by St Paul&#8217;s Cathedral one more time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/one-new-change-st-pauls-london-11.jpg\" alt=\"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Accessed through the swishy\u00a0One New Change\u00a0development by St Pauls, getting to the roof involves hopping on the lift to the top floor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/one-new-change-st-pauls-london-02.jpg\" alt=\"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I first visited the roof terrace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/lesser-known-london-viewpoints-the-dramatic-view-from-one-new-change-st-pauls\/\" target=\"_blank\">on a sunny September afternoon in 2011<\/a>, but things were considerably more chilly in February.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/one-new-change-st-pauls-london-03.jpg\" alt=\"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Because it was so cold, the terrace was almost totally deserted. Which I liked.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/one-new-change-st-pauls-london-04.jpg\" alt=\"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Shard can be seen to the far right. \/><\/p>\n<p>In the view above you can see the top of the Walkie Talkie tower to the left (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/the-sky-garden-at-the-walkie-talkie-tower-20-fenchurch-street-london-photos\/\" target=\"_blank\">photo feature here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/one-new-change-st-pauls-london-06.jpg\" alt=\"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dating from the 17th\u00a0Century\u00a0and built to a design by Sir Christopher Wren, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/St_Paul's_Cathedral\" target=\"_blank\">St Paul\u2019s Cathedral<\/a> stands 365 feet (111m) high, and was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/one-new-change-st-pauls-london-07.jpg\" alt=\"Get a great free view of London from One New Change, St Pauls\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The poor security fella was so cold he had to lurk in this alcove to keep out of the biting wind.<\/p>\n<p><img border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Strata tower with its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/the-rarely-spinning-turbines-of-the-strata-tower-south-london\/\" target=\"_blank\">never-working
