The Getty Gallery by Oxford Circus continues to be one of my favourite photography galleries\u00a0in central London.<\/p>\n

Unlike the nearby, constantly-rammed\u00a0Photographer’s Gallery<\/a>, this free, small\u00a0gallery almost always has enough space to let you take in the work properly, and some of the work can be outstanding.<\/p>\n

\"Big<\/p>\n

To be honest, I thought the theme for this one was rather weak, although that didn’t detract from\u00a0the enjoyment of seeing some of the great work on offer.<\/p>\n

Gathered under the banner, “Big Is Beautiful,” the only unifying element of the exhibition was that the photos were printed on a large scale. And that’s it.<\/p>\n

So a striking modern colour picture of a diving polar bear\u00a0can be found next to photos of the Eiffel Tower under construction next to\u00a0archive images by\u00a0Herbert Ponting of the 1911\u00a0Scott Expedition of Antarctica.<\/p>\n

It’s all a little bit bewildering but – hey! – it’s a free exhibition!<\/p>\n
