{"id":169,"date":"2009-01-18T22:29:00","date_gmt":"2009-01-18T22:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/u75blog\/?p=169"},"modified":"2011-06-21T01:32:28","modified_gmt":"2011-06-21T00:32:28","slug":"goodbye-london-astoria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/goodbye-london-astoria\/","title":{"rendered":"Goodbye London Astoria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of London&#8217;s finest music venues is set to be demolished by the summer, thanks to the long-delayed CrossRail project which needs the land.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen some great gigs at the Astoria and it also used to be a bit of a regular haunt in my RAWWWCKKK! phase, where I hung out with hard drinking, poodle-haired chums in the upstairs club getting on down to Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Guns and Roses and other <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">fist in the air<\/span> head-shaking types&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So now the Astoria joins the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urban75.org\/london\/hammersmith-palais.html\">Hammersmith Palais<\/a> as another great lost London gig.
