(Photo-based animation project)\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/160024074?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"735\" height=\"413\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The four-minute film sees Zakharov using old black and white views of New York, Boston, Washington, Detroit, Washington D.C. and Baltimore from 1900 and 1940 and animating them into a beautifully evocative film.<\/p>\n<p>Described as &#8216;photo-based animation project&#8217;, Zakharov says it&#8217;s a &#8220;travel back in time with a little steampunk time machine,&#8221; and although he offers no information on how the effects were created, we can image it involved much 3D modelling. \u00a0However he did it, I think it&#8217;s bloody amazing!<\/p>\n<p>The photos were sourced from the excellent archive photo site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shorpy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">shorpy.com<\/a>\u00a0and the soundtrack is Al Bowlly &#8211;
