All the photos were taken on a battered three-year old <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wirefresh.com\/two-months-with-the-ricoh-gr-aps-c-compact-camera-real-world-photo-examples\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ricoh GR compact camera<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/soho-street-scenes-2016-02.jpg\" alt=\"Street Preachers, closed sex shops and street art: Soho photos, October 2016\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First stop was at the Getty Gallery near Oxford Circus where there is a wonderful exhibition of photographs showing how Soho has changed in the last hundred years or so.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Delving into the murky depths of Soho&#8217;s past, the viewer is taken on a fascinating tour down narrow streets and pavements bustling with nightlife. We take furtive glances into basement clubs, corner cafes and tiny shops where we meet the diverse faces who helped establish Soho as one of London\u2019s best-loved villages. The exhibition illustrates the importance of preserving the area&#8217;s rich architectural and cultural history into the future. Their malfunctioning neon sign once displayed &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/lice-sex-shop-and-other-autumnal-london-street-scenes\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lice Sex Shop<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/soho-street-scenes-2016-16.jpg\" alt=\"Street Preachers, closed sex shops and street art: Soho photos, October 2016\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The sad sight of the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/?s=12+bar\" target=\"_blank\">12 Bar club<\/a>\u00a0on Denmark Street, once a major fixture on the alternative live music scene.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/soho-street-scenes-2016-17.jpg\" alt=\"Street Preachers, closed sex shops and street art: Soho photos, October 2016\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The musicians\u2019 Mecca of instrument shops, Denmark Street (aka Tin Pan Alley), still lives on although under increasing pressure from developers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/soho-street-scenes-2016-18.jpg\" alt=\"Street Preachers, closed sex shops and street art: Soho photos, October 2016\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Street preacher presents his message.
