I returned to Brighton last weekend to play a show with\u00a0The Monochrome Set at the Hope & Ruin pub in Queens Road, a short walk down from the station.<\/p>\n

It was something of a flying visit as we arrived in the late afternoon from our show at Newport in the Isle of Wight<\/a>, but I’ve photographed Brighton so many times in the past<\/a>, it was just a relief to come along and mainly play and drink!<\/p>\n

I captured a few shots between soundchecking, gigging and partying, including this street art by the prolific Detroit-born Minty<\/a>, who has now settled in the town.<\/p>\n

Almost exactly a year ago, I travelled to Brighton to see the Monochrome Set play the Hope & Ruin, but then I was a mere spectator – who could have guessed that I’d soon be thumping the tubs for them all over Europe<\/a>!<\/p>\n

I liked the support band, Pog. The singer designs great record sleeves too!<\/p>\n

\"Brighton<\/p>\n

Look at that mirror ball. It’s bloomin’ mahoosive.<\/p>\n

Some jokes were exchanged on stage.<\/p>\n

Not everyone found them funny \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Some wag had changed the name of the band ‘Inbreeding Clan’ to the ‘Inbreeding Clams.’ This amused me more than expected.<\/p>\n

Later on, we repaired to the wonderful\u00a0Green Door Store in the Lower Goods Yard by the station.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a great bar with two rooms, laid back security and regular DJs, and the gaff stays open till till 4am and it’s free to get in all night. Highly recommended.<\/p>\n
