Britain by the city of Oslo, Norway, each year since 1947.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urban75.org\/blog\/images\/christmas-lights-london-2017-04.jpg\" alt=\"In photos: the border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps my favourite was the traditional orange peel decoration on the big tree inside the National Portrait Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>The custom of hanging fruit and baubles from green tree branches goes back to Roman times, where\u00a0the decorations were used to symbolise the fruits of the Earth and the fiery sun.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"
